The thriller genre will make viewers feel emotions such as suspense, excitement, surprise and anxiety. This is due to its many sub genres which consist of psychological thrillers, spy action thrillers, erotic thrillers, contained thrillers, crime thrillers, medical thrillers and political thrillers. The psychological sub genre will generally contain suspense, jump scares, knives, ghosts, a female protagonist, isolation and vulnerability. The spy/action sub genre will contain guns, chase sequences, car chases, isolation, law enforcement, a damsel in distress and a male antagonist. The erotic sub genre will have a female protagonist, love, obsession and lust. The contained sub genre will be set in one place, and will most likely have a female protagonist or damsel in distress who is trapped. Overall, the thriller genre will have be a mix of these sub genres and will contain jump cuts, knives, partnership, anxiety, ghosts, pathetic fallacy, suspenseful music and will most likely be scary.
